I have a 1999 Fleetwood Discovery 36' In the pass I had a little problem that would happen when I started the generator. It seemed that it would take a long time for the power to load. Sometimes I would even have to shut the generator down and start it again.
It would always load up until here recent when we were on our way
back from a trip. It was cool up north were we was staying but on the way back home it got hot getting back to Texas.
I started the generator and turn on the AC unit and it was running OK. Then I notice it was getting hot again so I stop to check it out.
What I found was that when the generator would load everything would come on stay on until I tried to run an AC unit. Then the power would shut down and would not load up again until I shut down the generator each time.
After getting home I checked it out more I thought it might be the Ac controler unit. Installed it but didn't help at all.
Now it seemed that it will only load the power from the generator every now and then.
The generator it self never shuts down and will give me all the power I want until I put a heavy load on it.
Any help would be very appreciated

I had a similar problem with our generator. Turned out to be a bad time delay circuit board. There is a bypass on ours and after turning it on, we had instant power from generator. Take a look inside your transfer switch and look for a small dip switch.

Do you have a Surge Protector in line with Gen?
If you think its in the transfer switch may have a pitted contact on one of the relays. Run a dollar bill through the contact.
Welcome to irv2 by the way.

Be sure to check generator and transfer swtich conductors for clean and tight connections while you are at it.

After checking it out more and pulling the box out so I can get to them it. The generator side voltage doesn't even come on now. I still get shore power good but it seems that the Gen power has went out or not getting to the box coming into the box.
The box has the lines marked inside and after checking this one box it has no voltage on the gen power side. It has shore power to it when that line is checked. Could there be another box ? This one is under the refrigerator.
I guess I will have to find out if the generator is putting out voltage now. It was but you never can tell about it now. It seems that the voltage out put from the generator has gotten worse. I use to come on and run the microwave clock but now it doesn't do that.
Anymore ideas,HELP !!!!!

I was checking the output from the generator today and all I could get from what I think is the main output line is 0.08 volts.
My generator is an Onan Marquis 6500 lp under the front of the motorhome. It doesn't open a door on the side like some. It's a little hard to get to but I see a big gray casing with 2 sets of white rolmex wires in it.
I check both sets and only get the 0.08 voltage when running from each.
If I turn off the breakers on the side of it then I get no voltage.
Could this be the regulator or what.

It could be one or more of several things. It will need to be pulled out and diagnosed if it is more than a circuit breaker or loose connections.
