When you say you ran a cable from your TV out to your antenna jack... do you mean you ran coax from the antenna input on the back of your set and then up on the roof directly to your antenna?

Is your antenna a crank up "bat wing" type? Is it normally hooked up with factory wiring that goes into your "booster/distribution" box? Was the booster turned on?

If you were in an area where broadcasts are available, the standard Winegard bat wing with booster is usually pretty effective at picking up at least some channels.

BTW, is this a new problem or did you just purchase the rig and are trying to figure out how everything works?

We have pretty good luck with tv but I would suggest direction is very important. Even a couple degrees...

Do you have an analog/digital converter box, seeing your RV is 2003 I assume it has a old TV?

No I ran coax just from tv out to a jack right beside the tv in the cupboard

In order to receive over-the-air digital programming (as opposed to digital programming provided by a paid provider such as cable or satellite TV service),

You will need: (1) a digital TV (a TV with a digital tuner) or an analog TV connected to a digital-to-analog converter box and (2) a broadcast antenna (either a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears” connected to your set). In general, an antenna that provides quality reception of over-the-air analog TV broadcasting will work for digital TV broadcasting.

You may also be in an area like a valley that will get very little if any antenna reception. We are at such a campground right now. The only way to get much of anything is with Dish or DirecTV. And since it is a valley almost no cell so mi-fi's don't work very well either. So the campground wi-fi is it for most for internet.
