Unusual air conditioner issue

Okay. (2) Dometic low profile roof airs. When running on generator power when coach is NOT moving the EMS says they are pulling about 29-30amps.

Now start the coach and start driving on the freeway. Genny on and roof airs going full tilt. After awhile, amps are up to nearly 40 with nothing else on except the same 2 roof airs.

Pulling that many amps seems to be causing havoc with the Intellic system. It's causing the interior lights to blink on and off randomly.

I'm getting ready to order new roof A/C cowlings and will check the weather stripping at that time. Coach has always been stored inside and when I inspected the a/c fins last fall, they were clean. Any thoughts?

Probably heat related on the genset. As heat rises so e does resistance.
Where is the genset mounted

Could be wind fighting the condenser fans.

It is not likely but what about slowing down when higher amps seen?

This is simple troubleshooting in that when a symptom is observed change something and see if it changes ...playing with a beast in motion although is somewhat of a challange....

The room air fan and condenser fan are at opposite ends of the same motor and maybe there is something letting air into the inside of your rig that is pressurizing it just a bit and maybe the internals on the ac are allowing air to escape allowing reverse air flow through the fan causing the fan to work harder .

Try switching fan to lowest speed to see if it matters to start.

I've ordered 2 new roof A/C cowlings. should get them next week. Just have to paint them and install. The old ones are cracked and worn out. A good gust and they would probably land on the side of the road. Weather stripping inside is loose. Getting that all replaced/repaired and we'll see what happens. Hopefully that will solve the problem. We shall see.
