I had a wood floor installed and when the toilet was reinstalled the closet flange was lower then the new floor. Only by maybe 1/4 in. But it i enough to keep the rubber seal from doing its job. I tried using two but one squeezes out. So unless someone has an idea how to correct it, the only thing I can think of is using a standard house wax seal. I am open to any suggestions you may have....

Thanks

Raise the flange... Flanges are either glued on or screwed on. If screwed on you may have enough threads to not screw it down as far. If glued on it is a job but you can cut the flange off, add an extension and put it back. They really should have removed the flange THEN installed the floor....

The installer should have raised the flange up, that would be the ideal solution....But....
They did the same thing in our house and tried using a new style rubber gasket. It, naturally, leaked, so I've had to reset it a couple times now. Going to replace the flooring soon anyway.
Not sure a wax gasket will work any better though.

If you user the wax ring it will leak after awhile it will get hot and melt. I checked my RV temp yesterday it was 101 I don't think a wax ring will survive long at those temps. Best to look for a taller gasket.

I've done the same floor thing and just unscrewed the toilet flange and put flooring material under the flange and then screwed the flange back down and no more problem. I also agree with Conquest102. A wax seal just wont cut it in hot temperatures.

I agree it should have been raised. I didn't catch it till I installed a new toilet. They just removed to toilet and installed the floor and then set it back in with the one seal... I am just trying to figure out a plan of attack before I remove the stool. I have quite a distance to go for parts..

Lowes has a raised steel insert seal along with the wax seal. Use the steel shims and throw the wax ring away.

They make a flange repair ring that extends into the existing flange pipe for just such situations. It might work for you also.

I bought one at Lowes a couple years back to make a repair in one of my properties.
