We've got the 2100 & there is no lint filter. A couple times a season, I do check the outside vent for any lint buildup, though.

I have, occasionally, used a fabric softener sheet. The problem is timing it just right to catch it when the unit starts the dry cycle, shutting it off long enough for the door latch to unlock, putting in the sheet & then turning it back on so it can finish drying. 9 times out of 10, I'm busy doing something else & forget about the dryer sheet until it's too late. It's better to use the #3 section of the dispensing drawer for liquid softener. There was a thread here about the Purex 3-in-1 sheets, but doesn't look like they work well.

The Splendide doesn't use (or require) a lint filter. However, there is a filter that is designed to catch large objects that inadvertently end up in the drain. It's located in the front of the machine on the bottom right. I check it once a year and have never found anything (including lint). Put a towel down before you do though because a fair amount of water spills out.

As for fabric softener sheets, the machine has a special bin (no. 3) for liquid fabric softener. We've used it for years and it works great. Just be sure to use very small amounts (i.e. big tablespoon) of liquid detergent and you'll be fine.

Using a softener sheet requires you to use wash cycle only. When unit is done, insert sheet and set to dry only. The filter at the bottom of the unit should be serviced per owners manual. It's main purpose is to prevent stuff from entering the pump that may cause damage.
Lint_ annually one should remove the outside vent and use a dryer hose brush to loosen lint, while the unit is set to dry(blows loose lint right in your face, don't ask). It amazes me how much lint builds up in the hose.
