Water Foams At Faucet Using Pump

Background.

Just picked up the DP in my signature with 8500 original miles. Yep, the bad is systems not being used a lot.

The prior owner told me he could not get the water systems to work well after bringing it out of hybernation this year, reporting water foaming, and hot water being sporadic. When I first fired the system up I got foaming using hot water, cold was OK.

The anode, 100% bare. I drained the tank and hosed it out, a lot of deposits came out, some rather large chunks. Anode now replaced.

Checked the in-line valves at the hot water tank and wet bay, and all seem to be in the proper positions.

Cranked it up again, gee the 10 gallon takes longer than my old 6 gallon to warm up... about 1 hour to heat up. Running on city water everything seemed to work. Hot water, no foaming under hot or cold.

Switch to the pump and using hot water all works, but when I select cold water I still get some foaming.

Any ideas?

Something is in the tank! Fill and flush a few times.

Or

There is a small air leak on the suction side of the pump, check all of the hose fittings and the strainer.

I wonder if there is something in the fresh tank causing the foaming? No foaming on the hot side might be explained by still having city water in the water heater and not yet having run enough from the fresh tank to displace it? How long did you run the hot water after switching back to onboard?

Hi Gary. I ran each faucet for maybe 30 seconds on each setting. Hot, cold, city & pump.

Sounds like the pump is sucking air

Is it actually foam or just air bubbles

Also when you rinsed the tank out did it "foam" the same

agree. i know some folks winterize by dumping the pink stuff into the fresh tank and use the pump to run the anti freeze thru the lines. might still be some AF in the tank.

Our water will foam for quite some time after dewinterizing/sanitizing at the start of the season due to residual antifreeze still being somewhere in something. It eventually stops after enough water is run through everywhere.

Bubbles, like an aerator in overdrive. I haven't rinsed the tank out tet. Another good idea.

x2 on the rv antifreeze if it was winterized. Mine always foams for a tank or so. My boat is the same. Maybe drain the tank a few times. While you are at it, sanitize the fresh water system. Put either some bleach in it, or buy some tank sanitizer at Walmart. Never hurts to start out knowing the fresh water system is safe. One hour seems like a long time for hot water. Is that on electric, propane, or both.

I used bleach to sanitize mine and had foaming when using the pump. I had to flush the tank out then run the lines to get the last out of the lines. A little bleach goes a long ways....

Probably has antifreeze in tank.
