That silver valve is the Mixing Valve on your Atwood XT water heater
Water is heated to 155*F and then Mixing Valve controls Hot out to system at 130*F using cold water to mix with the very hot water

Hot out from tank/hot in to mixing valve is clogged.
Remove mixing valve....some folks have had success cleaning mixing valve
Many just replace it cause PITA to try and clean.

Atwood part number 90029
This place has it for $116 (see it on Amazon for $134+ and RV Stores for $145)

It is just a 'tempering valve'........check Big Box Hardware for one. Probably less then $100

Remove check valve...install a shutoff valve

Otherwise IF you bypass water heater you will still have backflow into water heater (check valve used to stop backflow when WH Tank is bypassed)
