I recently bought a 1990 Granville Debonair 23' minihome. I have managed to get everything working on it except the water heater and the fridge (on LP). I am replacing the coach batteries today, but had a question about this issue. I just recalled that when I got the RV I turned off the LP Gas detector near the exit door. Is this connected to the LP supply for the WH and fridge? the stove and furnace both work fine on LP, and the fridge works on electric. the WH clicks once, then the red light comes on. the fridge clicks and eventually the red "X" comes on when attempting to turn on via LP.
Is this something as simple as turning on the LP gas detector? I had turned it off because the coach batteries were old and wouldnt hold a charge, so i didnt want anything on that wasnt absolutely necessary.
I cant really find anything about the LP detector being tied to these 2 units, so can anyone give me more of an answer?

Your 12v batteries are needed for control boards in fridge, furnace and WH. A good 12v.
Plus you may have air in lines that will be purged after a few attempts at lighting.
LP detector should not have anything to do with function of appliances other than to warn you of LP leak some where.
Welcome to irv2.

when i get home tonight im going to install my new coach batteries. i read on another site that if the LP detector isnt on, it wont allow gas to flow to the fridge and WH, but couldnt find any other places that mentioned that. over the weekend, i tried putting a jumper pack on the old batteries to give them some additional boost, but neither one still lit up on LP. im just trying the easy stuff first before having a professional check them out.
how many times would it take to purge air out of the lines? i have lit all 4 stove burners and let them burn for a minute or so, and the furnace starts up ok. would a low voltage condition be the reason i dont hear the "tick tick tick" of the WH attempting to light?
i guess ill know more tonight when i get the new batteries installed.

Need good batteries.
WH is at end of line and will tic,tic the most its looking for gas so be patient.
LP if that was the case stove wouldn't light also. Also needs good battery to operate.

After installing the new chassis batteries, I was finally able to get the fridge to ignite on LP, but the WH still will not ignite. I still dont hear it clicking like its trying to even ignite anything. I did verify though that the gas valve is opening, as i was able to manually light it with a lighter. it only burns for about 10 seconds though, then the gas valve shuts back off. How/what should i check to troubleshoot why the ignitor isnt working? I dont want to have to replace the board unless all other avenues have been visited. I took the main board out and cleaned the plug connection, and the ground connector. is there any way to test the ignitor to see if its even attempting to ignite? ie, how do i know its the actual board, and not the ignitor itself?
the ignitor doesnt look dirty, but would taking it out and cleaning it have any effect on it if i dont even hear it ticking/sparking?
