White Vinegar is your answer. It will disolve the calcium in no time. Remember to siphon as much water as you can from the heater. Atwoods usually have up to two gallons of water remaining in the tank after the drain plug is pulled. Once the water is out, introduce enough vinegar until it runs from the drain hole. It may take up to two gallons to do the job. Don't be afraid to let it set overnight, then flush the tank completely
