Whenever I use my water heater on LP I have to do the following.
First turn it on, it tries to fire three times then the trouble light goes on at the panel, I then need to shut it off and turn it back on then it opperates OK.
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions, input?
Please let me know.
Thanks

Sounds like the propane line is not staying filled going to the heater. It could have a small leak at the water heater or one of the lines could be loose. It has all the symptoms of no propane in the line. I would get a propane leak tester to make sure you dont have a leak

I agree! Mix liquid soap 50/50 with water. Use an old spray bottle, or paint brush, to coat every connection, line, pipe, regulator, etc. Bubbles show a leak. Another possibility is a dirty orifice, spiders love LPG odor and make the burner home. This may result in a restriced/plugged burner.

I tried this and no leaks, what I did notice though is that it fired up and operated right away when the door to access the burner is open. So the next day I tried it with the door closed and same problem three times and out, then restart and it operated. So I then tried starting it the next day with the door open and it fired right away and operated. Weird.

It appers that the unit is not getting enough combustion air. This has happened before on some Winnebago moldels, I believe. You could notify the dealer and have them contact Monaco and get authorization to modify the door to allow enough air in to ignite & burn correctly. Good luck and keep us posted.

Jimmie,
I had a similar problem with the heater cycling off and on several times in a row. Lack of air to the unit was the problem. I was able to fix mine by providing more air through the front of the WH cover. There was a 1 1/2 inch round hole in the cover that had been covered by a thick clear plastic membrane. I cut out the plastic to allow the more air into the WH combustion chamber and the problem disappeared.
I also saw a post on here a few months ago where the owner used a dremmel tool with a cutting disk attached to cut a small "V" shaped notch on each edge of the WH cover at the bottom. This allowed in more air, and the problem was fixed.
Most likely that will solve your problem, and I avoid taking anything to the dealer if I can do it myself. You may try doing a search of the forums for the post. I think there were photo's of the notches that were cut into the cover.
Good luck, Sarge

Thanks Sarge
I hate going to the dealer for anything either, so I will try what you have suggested.
Thanks Again.
