I usually have a full hookup and rarely use the watef pump. The last two weeks we've been using it. It seems to have some sort of leak as every 15-20 minutes it comes on for about a second. Its not the ice maker as it comes on longer when it fills. I have searched high and low and cannot find any leak. Does a water pump usually loose it's prime and reprime itself? Thats the only explanation I could come up with.

Unless I am mistaken ( always possible) it is a pressurized system, you may have an air leak at the tank itself.

It is a pumped water system and yes they do bleed presure off over a period of time. It most of the time goes back through the pump. It is a good practice to only turn the pump on when you need it.

Do you have a valve to fill the fresh water tank from a city water connection? If so, check to be sure the valve is fully set to normal use; otherwise it will pump water back into the tank.
