This is one of those "didn't seem to fit anywhere else" questions...
My Lance did it, and now my new fifth wheel does it. Why is it that after time, it gets to where the water pump will cycle from time to time, even when you aren't using it?
Is this something that can be fixed, or is it a "that's just the way it is" thing?

Yup, our fleetwood does the same. Since I had no apparent leaks, I wondered why as well. It appears the answer lies in the quality of the pump. Very gradually, water seeps backwards through the pump from the pressurized side back to the freshwater tank. Eventually the pressure drops down low enough to trigger the pump again. On ours, it usually goes off once or twice a night. In theory the anti-syphon valve in the pump should prevent this.

Another possibility;
If you have a water tank fill valve that lets you fill your water tank from you city water connection, it may be defective.
Mine was letting water leak back into the tank.

It must be the pump, then... I don't have that fill valve (wish I did!). I've been wanting to replace the pump with a better, quieter one anyway. Mine cycles about every five minutes, but only for about one second at a time.
Thanks!
Rob

I'm pretty sure you do have a check valve on your city water hose connection, though. If you look inside, you should see a round shaft (probably about 3/16" in diameter) in the center that you can push in to relieve the pressure in the water line (and get a brief shower if the water line is pressurized).
You might also consider checking all of your fresh water drain valves for leaks too. You might not easily notice a leak from them because they're under the trailer. Another place to check is the hot water heater's safety pressure release valve. These sometimes can drip when they're defective.
If it makes you feel any better, our water pump used to do this until I installed an accumulator tank.

Mine does it also. The ice maker is the culprit on mine. When I shut it off, the cycling stops.

Your rig is not that old. I would be inspecting every water line connection I could lay my eyes on.

Mine was a defective PRV on the water heater. Changed it and no more cycling.

I had a problem like this (see July 8,07 posts). I tried EVERYTHING. Checked EVERYTHING. It turned out to be the ShurFlow pump. Sent it to the factory who sent me a new pump. Don't for a second think it isn't the pump as long as you've looked over all the other connections & the city water fill.
If you have a Shurflo call their Tech desk!

Had a very small leak in the waterline feeding the ice maker, fixed, now it turns out to be the icemaker.
