Check out the Aquatec web site. I think there is only 1 they sell for RV's and it is a 5 gpm. That is what is in our 05 limited. Works for us.

Ron, I suggested earlier in this post the Aquatec. It is however called an Aquajet that I have been so impressed with
Aquajet RV Variable Speed Water Pump - AQUAJETRV This link here is the equivalent of the 5.7 pump. As I believe I mentioned I had one of these installed in my previous coach and it worked great and was quieter than the 5.7
This is the company that came out with the variable rate pumps first and held a patent on it for a while.

My Shurflo 5.7 gets quite hot sometimes, and the wiring gets very hot too. I put an automotive type toggle switch at the pump so I could turn it off/on there when troubleshooting or changing it out -- the lasted a few months before literally melted. It was rated for more amp than the pump is fused to pull. The coach came with a tiny 2.8gpm pump. I guess I would have to run larger gauge wire from the 12v buss to do the wiring right for the larger pumps. The 5gpm Aquajet info says wiring must be "adequate" but does not say what that would be.

Harry,
Thanks for the info, just what I was looking for. Will the fittings and strainer currently connecting the lines to the ShurFlo work with the FloJet, or will I need to get new fittings from FloJet?
I also plan to sent the ShurFlo back for repair or replacement so I have a backup pump.
Thanks again,

At the Winnebago Grand National Rally last July the Shurflow rep said the 5.7 was going to be replaced with a mechanical version because of the failures they have had with the electronics. As I recall he said they expected it this next summer.

I must just be lucky. I have had a 5.7 Smart Sensor pump for 4.5 years. We are fultimers and the pump is on 24/7. We always pump from our tank because we have an RO system.

The rep said a lot of people had no problems but when a given motor home did have a problem it would often be repeated time and time again.
It almost sounds like some sort of voltage transient peculiar to a specific RV.
As someone that designed electronics for all sorts of vehicles and heavy equipment, I can testify that the electrical systems of vehicles are subject to some pretty nasty transients and the electronics must be designed to withstand them.

I had no electronic problems. Just mechanical problems on all the 5.7 pumps that failed.

I've replaced three Shurflo 5.7s and after contacting the company, I now have a pretty good idea of what is going on. The specific nature of each 5.7 failure varies but the underlying problem has to do with excessive back pressure. For some reason, certain RVs have piping schematics that offer too much hydraulic resistance to the 5.7. It all probability, it's the consequence of several interrelated variables including the pipe diameter, the presence of water filters, too many fittings, restrictive faucets, undetected blockages, and so on. Over time, the excessive back pressure essentially damages the pump. The only option for some is to install a pump that has a flow rate that is appropriate for your particular fresh water plumbing system.
The Extreme 5.7 is an excellent pump and Shurflo is a very good company to work with. But unfortunately, not every RV can take advantage of the 5.7's impressive capabilities.
