Can anyone shed some light on why our water pump surges only when taking a shower. There pressure will go up and down sort in a rhythmic way. It does not do it when using other water outlets. Thanks

The out flow rate of the shower faucet is probably lower than the others and the pressure switch on the pump head is cutting the pump on and off respectively. To fix this, 1) remove water flow restricter in shower head and retry, 2) Adjusted pump - the shower needs to be running and then the pressure switch adjusted to compensate or 3) use an accumulator tank if you have the room.

I suggest an accumulator tank as well.
