WeatherPro Awning
How can I tell if my WeatherPro Awning has the Wind Sensor automatic retraction feature without putting it outin a windstorm and waiting to see if it blows over the roof of my Motor Coach ?

If it has a little 3 inch white mushroom looking thing on the roof ,thats the wind sensor, then it has one.

Weather Pro wind sensor
The sensor, if you have one, can be tested with a hair dryer.
Even though our sensor works (most of the time), I don't trust it. We close the awning if the wind starts to blow or any time we leave the rig.

There also shoulld be a control box in your outside bay.

So that's what that thing on the roof is 
The control box on our MH is in the front most basement storage, passenger side on the front wall. There is a micro switch to turn the wind sensor off on them. Handy if you have lights hanging from the awning since rolling them up in it doesn't do them any good.
We also attach a patio shade and strap it down since the awning is so high when extended it does no good some afternoons if we are facing west on that side. I think the design would have been better if the awning was on the slide not over it.

Depending on the model, the sensor may be on the arm at the front of the roller tube. There should also be a remote controller which will allow it to be enabled/disabled, and a control center for adjusting the sansitivity.

I've seen technicians test the wind sensor by using a hair dryer.

Since I have a WeatherPro, I can voice my opinion. It is a total piece of crap. Mine is going back in for the fifth straight year, this time to have the channels and arms changed out because they warped. Every other year it has been because the awning fabric has slid making it difficult to close. Not to mention that it is underpowered. Not to mention.... may I have some cheese with my whine? Since the awning is rarely out anymore, I can't figure out how they could possibly warp. As far as the sensor is concerned, forgeddaboutit!

My wind sensor gave up so I repaced the control unit and sensor. It then took the year off and just now came back to work. Needless to say, I have very little faith in it.
It probably would stay out in a tornado and go back in if I sneezed.
