I have a Weldex model WDRV-3007M rear view monitoring system which works some of the time in my 2005 Bounder 39Z. The screen works for awhile, then goes blank but still has power to it because it has a dim light but no picture. Then suddenly it starts to work again. Occasionally the screen will "roll" like the old tube type tvs. I've checked and cleaned the cable & wire contacts on both the monitor and the camera.
Any ideas on what is going on and how to correct it?

Same thing happened to me. I also cleaned everything I could, but it still rolled, went blank and zig-zaggy, plus snowy. I finally cut out the connector, where the camera plugged into the cable going to the monitor, at the rear of the MH. I then connected the wires with typical wire connectors and now, everything works fine. Easy connection, the wires are color coded. Guess the connector was bad.

Thanks for the info Gripper, I'll give it a try. My camera has a wire coming out the back of it with about a foot/foot & 1/2 of lead before the connector, I'm thinking you're saying to cut & replace that connector. Did you have a problem with the wire attachments inside the camera itself? Seems like the wire isn't supported very well there and could also be a problem.
Thanks.

I eliminated the whole connector. The male and female, not just on the camera. I realize that is a drastic step, but the options are to replace the camera, monitor or the wiring. Not a pleasant choice. It worked for me, so there's a 50/50 chance it will work for you. I took the stand that it doesn't work anyway, so I might as well try. Good luck. Oh, by the way, if you do hard wire it, be sure to make the connection water tight.

The CRT Weldex monitors are well known for issues. Just search this or any other RV-ing forum & you'll find lots of threads about it.
We have an extended warranty, so when our monitor started acting up last year, we had it replaced with an LCD one. Paid extra, but also had the camera switched out to a color one (old one was B&W) since the monitor was color. The newer monitor has backing lines that appear on the screen when in reverse mode (with tick marks every 6ft up till about 40ft behind the coach). So much easier to back up, just keep where ever you need to go within the lines & it's easy peasy. We had one issue with the monitor again fading out, but it was only once & it was really hot that day. Somehow it must've been heat related, but we can't seem to recreate the circumstances & we haven't had any further incidents of it acting up once the weather cooled.

Thanks gripper for the additional info. Sounds like a better fix.
Lori, did you have to change the wires too or did you manage to make it work with the old ones. A color monitor would be nice, how much do they costs?

Actually, I don't know. The monitor was replaced under our extended warranty, so our dealer did the install. The color monitor was around $350 & the color camera around $300.

My Weldex is intermittent also, but it seems to have moisture in it, I bought a new rear camera from http://www.rvcams.com/default.htm but haven't installed it yet.
I talked to the guy at RV Cams for quite a while about options and decided to buy the camera and hope for the best.

bthomforde - Thanks for the post, please let me know how it works/if it fixed the problem when you get it hooked up. It doesn't look like I have a moisture problem but who knows, that might be the problem.

In case anyone wants to know what I discovered, with help taken from the above posters I found the cable connector under the dash was bad, had a loose connection. Once that was addressed the camera system has worked fine, at least for now that is.
