Howdy, first post on this forum. We are new to Travel Trailers. WE ahve never had all the conveniences when camping before, as we came from a tent trailer previously. Still learning, so this maybe a "newbie" question.

We have a WFCO 8955 Power center in the Wildwood. If we have 4 of the lights on, the bathroom fan running and the DSI for the fridge and the water heater, we get this annoying high pitched whine. Both my son and I can hardly stay in the camper when it is making that noise. If we turn a light or two off, the whine goes away. The noise almost sounds like a capacitor charging from an OLD flash style camera, except it seems higher pitched and louder.

Is this a sign the converter is starting to go bad, or it is just normal?

This has an on demand fan that may well be going bad. And no it is not normal but from what I have heard not unusual. http://americanrvcompany.com/assets/images/wf8900.pdf
Have you called WAFCO?

It is likely the cooling fan running, and sometimes they can be noisy. The fans has a thermostat, so increases with the electrical load on the converter. Could be the location amplifies the noise, or could be the fan is extra noisy or going bad. I'm not impressed with the quality of the WFCO products - I hear a lot of complaints about noise and early failures.

Thanks all, but this definitely not the fan. The fan makes it own noise (normal); the noise we are hearing is definitely electronic in nature. I have not yet got a chance to call WFCO, that is on the list for later this week.
