There is a black, U shaped thingy about 3" wide and 4" tall mounted on the left side of the firewall of my Class A. It faces front, has a light bulb, a switch to turn the light bulb on and off, and about a 2" wheel labeled "retract" with a peg to turn it. When I turn the wheel it feels like it might turn a damper valve and it is on the opposite side of the firewall from the HVAC distribution box. I have had my motorhome over 2 years and just now noticed it.

What could it be?

It sounds like a small emergency drop light! Had something very simular on a Chevy Pick-up Truck. Grab the bulb and see if you can unwind the power coard. You retract the power cord/light with the 2" wheel
