What is this connected to my pump?

What is the clear covered "T" to the left of my pump. What is it for? What is it called? And mine seems to be leaking, I am in the process of emptying my water to take it out and see if it's leaking due to connections or cracked. If I have to replace, I have to know what I am looking for.

Thanks.Click image for larger version

Perhaps it's a pressure relief valve. What happens if you pull up on the ring whe the pump is in operation?

Are you talking about the unit w a round clear top?
That looks like a screen inlet filter
If so top should screw off for cleaning. There is likely an prong in the mud that may need to be replaced

I had to replace mine. It had a small crack and leaked. Sediment filter for keeping trash from pump.

They are easy enough to replace.

Took it out. Seems ok but did have a bunch of junk in it. Cleaned it out see if leak is at one of the connections.
