Where to find a electric propane valve

My coach has the propane tank mounted between the frame rails. The main on/off valve and the fill valve are both solenoid actuated valves, or at least they should be. The previous owner must have had a problem with the fill valve and removed it, (the wires and switch are still there) piping it into the flexible hose. I am not confident just relying on the valve at the end of the hose that goes to the side of the coach and am thinking I should reinstall an electric valve at the tank. I haven't found much info on this type of valve on the net, who sells these things?

Check with your local propane company. They should have one or be able to get it and also install it for you.

The fill valve and piping does not have an electric valve in the circuit to the tank. The electric "On/Off" valve should be installed after the regulator and should be readily available at many RV part houses or could be ordered online. Look at Marshall Brass and Manchester for possiblities.

They are required on marine applications. West Marine should have them.

There are both low pressure and high pressure models. Make sure you get the correct one for your application.

Low pressure example: TRIDENT RUBBER 12V Low-Pressure Brass Full-Flow 3/8" Solenoid Valve at West Marine

High Pressure example: High Pressure Propane Solenoid - 12 Volt Binnacle.com

Google Info: 12vdc propane solenoid valve - Google Search

Low pressure versions can come with a carbon monoxide/propane detector like: Mti Industries Inc - Safe-T-Alert Carbon Monoxide/Propane Alarm - White - Safety - Camping World

There appear to be both 1/4" and 3/8" versions. Make sure you get the correct size.

I'm thinking that I need a valve at the tank in case the fill valve or the hose fails. Are most fill lines just plumbed hot from the tank to the fill connection? My fill hose runs quite a ways from behind the rear axle to the middle of the coach. I would be glad to leave it as is but would hate to have a leak that I could not shut off.

The excess flow valve inside the tank is for the purpose of a line rupture event. If a large leak were to occur, the excess flow valve will greatly reduce the gas flow escaping. Usually the remote fill (has built in check valve) is plumbed to the tank with high pressure rated apperatures without an electric valve in series.
