I want to install a 1500 invertor in my 5ver. I want to be able to remotely turn on and off the invertor from inside the coach. (which do you recommend) and I would like the invertor to only work on 2 outlets (tv outlets) is this possible? Can I just trace the wiring to the existing outlets, disconect that wiring and wire in romex 12/2 from the invertor?? Are there better ways to do this? what is the opinion out there?????

You will not need 1500 watts for a TV and adjoining equipment! And to waste the capabilities of a 1500 watt inverter is not cheap. You could probably be able to easily install a 400 watt and have the inverter needed for TV & DVD or VCR. If you want to install a larger one to power coffee maker or microwave then you will need the 1500 watt and will need to design the installation carefully. Following is some info you might want to look over, http://www.rvsolarelectric.com/sources.htm

Like Wizard says, the 400 watt is enough. There is usually a power plug where the tv is. I just plug the inverter in this and use.

I have a web page at http://www.klenger.net/arctic-fox/inverter/index.html with some info on installing an inverter.

Comment: You could get away with connecting a small inverter to a cigarette lighter style plug near the TV, but you are likely to blow the supply fuse if you load the inverter very much (over 70 watts or so). An inverter will draw about 1 amp DC for every 10 watts of AC power used, so a 70 watt load on the inverter will draw about 7 amps DC. Also, the DC voltage drop to a loaded inverter connected to "house" wiring is likely to be pretty high. All of this being the case, it's best to install the inverter as close to the battery as practical and run longer AC wires to the outlet.
