I'm considering a surge protector and would like to hear from users as to which of the two, TRC & Progressive, are the best buy and who has the better warranty. I want a portable unit. Where is a reasonable place to purchase one?

Or, do I really need one, have had this MH for 6 yrs and have not run into a problem, YET.

Joe, we have the Progressive that we can move from MH to MH if we happen to change coaches. It works well and we have had no problems at all. Mr Fanelli is the president of the company and will answer any E-mail you happen to send him with questions or concerns. We bought directly from the factory, although the sale was directed through one of their distributors. They also make an installed model as well, but I have never had any experience with one of those.
Will you ever need it? Good question and with good reasoning behind it. However, let me relate an experience that caused us to buy ours. We were in Kentucky near the Land Between the Lakes and decided to overnight at a place called Miss Scarlett's Restaurant and Campground. The CG was brand new and had just opened. We pulled in after registering and hooked up to the 50 amp service. After about 5 or 6 minutes I heard a 'boom' and could not figure where it came from. Everything worked, or so we thought until the next AM. We found a ground fault receptacle was fried and then later on that the Energy Managemen System in the 2000 Itasca Horizon was cooked as well. It probably saved our entire summer and only allowed the water heater to be damaged. Luckily there was no damage to the microwave or any of the other appliances.
It ended up costing us over $600 to get the thing back in shape and we spent the summer heating water on gas rather than electric.
Turns out, according to the tech that did part of the repair, that it MIGHT have been a loose ground (or at least mis-wired) on the power post.
THAT is the reason we have a surge protector now.
