Whirlpool washer A-10 error message

Twice in the last week we've gotten the A-10 error message. Twice I've removed the "filter" (doesn't look like any filter I've ever seen), using directions found here on IRV2. Twice I found nothing, but everything worked when I put it back.

Any ideas on what's up?

Had the same machine and the same error code. It started every once in a while, then eventually every load. Replaced water pump (Amazon) that helped for a while then it started again. Read the reviews, it is a horrible washer plagued with issues. Finally bought a new one from Sears. Never had another problem since... knock on wood. Good luck!
