Winegard water leak

We sat through an intense thunderstorm two days ago. We did not have the Winegard TV antenna "up" nor had it been up in about a month. But water was driven through and a small puddle of water was on the floor below. Has anyone else had a rain leak issue with this antenna and what was the fix.

You did not mention a water leak on the ceiling. Was there one? Or did the water follow the cable close to a wall....and end up on the floor ?

If it's leaking from the crank handle there is a o-ring seal that can cause the leak if not compressed good with the wave washer. Easy fix if you download their parts and service manual. This is a common leak path.
Not sure how to attach the manuals.

Worm gear and 12.25” hex elevating shaft

(complete assembly including: wave washer / flat washer / o-ring / worm gear nut)

I have had that happen in the past and have been able to resolve it by spraying silicone spray into the lube port of the antenna base.

I had the same problem with my Winegard manual crank up dish. It was my fault as I put to much caulk around the base on the roof. Their is a 1/4" drain hole at the base and if plugged the water will run into the coach at the crank up handle.

Thanks to everyone for the quick responses. The leak was off the handle so I'm going to first spray some silicone into the worm gear hole and if that doesn't do it, I will move on to replacing the O ring.

RM-DM46 Leaking through elevation shaft

Have been getting a little water at the handle after rain storms. Thinking the "O" on the shaft was the problem. Removed the elevation gear assembly and there was no "O" ring. Contacted Winegard and they said I could purchase a new gear assembly. Why would I do that when the only thing I need is a 25 cent "o" ring. Tech support said it was a custom ring for them. The engineer that designed something that requires a custom "o" ring should be fired. The gear assembly is not space engineering. The "O" was obviously missing from the factory. Factory suggested that they can disintegrate or become loose during installation. Another reason to fire the design engineer. Winegard never offered to just send out their custom "O" ring. I am going to see if I can find something that will work at the local hardware.

Not very impressed with the Winegard Customer Service.

Try checking with some plumbing supply stores. I have purchased O-ring material that comes as a long piece of rubber that comes with a bonding agent that allows you to make you own custom O-ring.
