Hello All, does anyone know what kind of mastic or glue Winnebago used in 2000 to attach the hardware to the inside of the front fiberglass cowling. My front hood hinge became dislodged and another bracket and I'm not sure how to repair. The material used to connect all of the front end hardware looks like some kind of material like liquid nails. Any ideas.

Not sure if it is exactly the same but we use Panel bond; an epoxy and the clamp the hinges on over night.

Our panel hinges broke away from the cowling last Fall. I used Liquid Nails along with steel plates and rivets....3,000 miles later good as new. Just had to put a little paint on the plates as they tend to rust. Check your engine panel also....that let go on one side at about the same time. Repaired that with Liquid Nails and SS nuts and bolts. Good luck...........

I used JB Weld. The stuff that Winny used is junk. I have re-glued most of the joints including the headlight mounts. My headlights were looking for next tuesday and I couldn't see a thing at night.

When the glue came loose on the hood hinges my 04 Winnie 33v, I bolted it back together, so as to be able to easily remove the "Hood" to work in there.. For other Winnie glued joints, you will notice that Winnie tries to glue painted items to their coaches. Aint gonna work, tho they try and try...and try. Remove the paint, rough up both sides of the joint, use the adhesive of your choice, (I use JB Weld), clamp or brace the joint for the time the glue manuf. specifies, and you are good to go...rgr...

Why on earth would you use a proven failure?

My understanding is that it was a material preparation problem rather than an adhesive problem.
Although we hear about the failures the great majority of us out here have not had a problem, so I don't consider the adhesive a "proven failure".

Interesting point. On my Motorhome, almost all the glue joints failed, I am sure it was because of the traveling that I do and the milage that I put on it. When the majority of glued joints have failed, on MY motorhome, my confidence in the factory glue went to zero. I re glued with JB Weld and have never had another failure. If you have never had a glue joint failure then you have never seen the problem first hand and wouldn't understand what I am talking about. I want to do the job once and not take a chance with the stuff that didn't last the first time. One other point is that the JB Weld is available at the local hardware store. I DON'T WORK FOR JB WELD.
Prep problem or not, I will never know, It's fixed !!
