wireless headphones
any tips on a wireless headphone setup that can allow for 2 sets of headphones ?
the transmitter does not have to have battery power - because the inverter or the genset will be on to power the TV and the DVD player.
thanks.

Quickest answer would have to be the magic ears that claim to allow multiple headsets. I have tried this at a vendor booth but not in actual use. However, we are on our third set of wireless wife savers in the rv. Have only actually used one set at a time; but since there are various configurations two should be possible.
Both our original Radio Shack (no longer stocked) and our replacement Sony headsets were connected via the headphone jack on the tv. However the latest purchase from Buy.com at half the cost can connect via the headphone jack or the optional adapter for RCA red/white jacks from either the tv (if available) or from VCR outputs. We use vcr if upfront, or headphone jack on HDTV in bedroom. But "could use" vcr and tv upfront.
Hope this helps another wife!!! It also is very usefull to set up the sat dish!!
Up front he uses headphones and I can set tv volume (low) to suit me; in bedroom two settings not needed.

We got Sennheiser wireless headphones. They are expensive but have very good fidelity.
One set of headphones comes with the transmitter and you can buy an extra set of headphones. Both headphones will work with the transmitter at the same time but only one set can be charged at a time by the transmitter.
Here is their site Sennheiser USA - Headphones and Headsets - Microphones
I got mine from BestBuy on-line as I recall.

There are now blue tooth transmitters and headset combination, what I do not know is if the pair will work with multiple heasets, If they will (Get it in writing if possible) then these send the sound digitally so there is no RF-noise issues.. Very nice. Plus the headset can often be tied to your cell phone when needed or to other devices (computer?) alas, Wife tossed the transmitter on mine.
The only other suggestion I will make is to make sure it's an RF type, not an infra red type.
One option, but I do not recommend it, is a device called an I-Rock, or I-beam (the I-beam runs on 12 volt automotive type battery power, it regulates it so don't worry about the 15 volt peaks)
This is a small FM transmitter, many cell phones now have FM receivers in them.. However this device is subject to interference from commercial FM radio and other sources. I use one here for my ham radio some times. I do not think it transmits in Stereo though (at least the one I have) but frankly,, I'm not sure since I used mixed out on the big radio (that is audio is sent to both channels, reduced in one)
