Xantrex Freedom 458 remote control panel upgrade

I've got a 2004 Tiffin Allegro Bus with a Xantrex Freedom 458 inverter. It's got the old remote that looks like the one pictured and I'd like to upgrade to the the newer Xanbus in the other picture. I don't suppose you can just plug and play the newer one? If not, is there any other way to upgrade besides buying a new inverter? Would love something that is a little more user friendly and intuitive.

I have the same setup, and would like to do exactly what you are wanting to do. I talked with a couple xantrex dealers and unfortunately it is not possible to use the scp with the older 458s. They did tell me that it is a simple plug and play with the new inverter, same network cable. I've not seen the connections, so don't have first hand knowledge.

Three years ago when I had my Samsung RR frig install they removed my Xantrex Freedom 458 inverter and installed the Magnum 2812 PSW inverter with a new controller. When it comes to the phone patch line all they did was drop 2 wires and put new ends on, the Xantrex use 6 wires and the Magnum uses 4 wires. If you do some looking you can get everything for about $1700 plus install. My Magnum has been on 100% of the time plus it is twice the inverter compared to the Xantrex.
