Greetings,

I just found the forum and lots of good information. I thought I would post a problem I am having with my Xantrex inverter. The inverter was installed in my 2007 Ragen FS2300 about 1.5 years ago and has worked great. I tied the inverter to the 15 amp AC circuit that controls all the receptacles in the trailer. We went on a trip to the Sacramento Delta where we had 30 amp power available. When I plugged into power, the inverter started making a clicking noise and the green light in the gfci outlet installed in the inverted started flashing in conjunction with the clicking noise. This is with the inverter powered off. When I power on the inverter the clicking stops and the green light becomes solid. I have cycled the power on the inverter numerous times and tried different sequences of plugging in the shore power. No matter what I do, if the power to the inverter is off, the clicking and flashing happens.

After this trip, I sold my trailer and purchased a 2012 Forest River Georgetown 350 TS. Since the motorhome is brand new I had the dealer install the inverter from my trailer. I brought the motorhome home this past weekend and plugged it into the 30 amp service I have at my home. The inverter did the same thing when it was installed in my trailer.

I called Xantrex and they have never heard of this problem. I am thinking it is the cfci plug on the inverter but I am hoping someone else has experienced this problem and knows the solution.

Sorry for the long first post but I look forward to some dialogue on this issue.

thanks in advance,

John

Hi John and . We are glad to have you join us. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
I sounds like you may be having trouble with the internal transfer switch and the unit is not passing current through the inverter. One way to find out is to measure the battery bank voltage with a load on it before and during the inverter light being on and off. Also check the voltage of the power out of the inverter. Let us know what you find when the light is off and when it is on.

Thanks for the reply Wizard. The new coach is back at the dealer for a dead generator but I will check voltage when I pick it up this week.

I will report back.
