The oven pilot light in our 5er never would light properly. The dealer fooled with it twice with no success. Today I dis-assembled the pilot light from the gas tube. Out fell the small metal seal that is shipped on the end of gas tube to prevent contamination. When I re-assembled everything, tested for leaks, and lit the pilot; the flame was about 4" high! I turned it down to the proper size, and it lights easily, the first time now.
Then I notice the dealer service tech had been turning the oven temperature adjustment and really nicked it up. Great now my wife is mad because she was thinking she was to blame for burning everything she baked.

Ray, were you able to get the thermostat cut in and cut out temps properly set? Hopefully they did not screw with both of them. THis can be a real pain getting them right. FOr gas ovens the swing should be 25 to 35 degrees with the average set to the dial.

No Mike, I haven't even let the oven heat up since that enlightenment. I will buy a good oven thermometer tomorrow and begin to test the regulator settings. Man that burns me! Two 300 mile trips to the dealership for nothing___. To really top it off, I found popcorn on the carpeting when I picked it up once.
