This is an open invite to combine RVing with amateur radio during the annual "ARRL Field Day" June 27 & 28, 2009.

The Coyote Amateur Radio Club based in Uvalde Texas (Uvalde is 85 miles west of San Antonio TX) is setting up a RV / communications trailer and other radio equipment at BIG OAK RIVER CAMP 34 miles north of Uvalde on highway 55.

Several of the club members are also RVers. We will have a fun time sitting around in the shade, enjoying some good food cooked on the grill, and doing some talking on the amateur radio bands. If you are in the area stop by and visit, bring the RV and stay awhile, play in the clean Nueces River, .....

You dont have to be into amateur radio to participate, in fact part of field day is showing the public what amateur radio is all about. We got some special rates from the park so let us know if you need a tent or RV space. It is a wonderfully equipped, clean, fairly new campground in the beautiful Texas hillcountry. Most of their cabins are reserved for a family reunion that same weekend, but tent and RV sites are available. I listed the discounted rates on the club website below. What is posted INCLUDES the 10% off mentioned on our website.

I only live a mile from the campground so I'll be there most of both days. The folks that run the park are active at the local volunteer fire department and are good country people. They are Terri & Wade Maynard @ 830-597-5280. If you want an RV site call them direct & tell them you will be with the Uvalde Radio club field day group. Also let me know you will be there by replying here or email me at twobit601@yahoo.com

Hope to see some of the iRV2 crew there.

And for you folks in the Houston area, NARS (call W5NC) will be located at Burroughs park, just north of Tomball. The map is located on page 4 of the newsletter ...HERE

There will be a GOTA (Get on the Air) station for anyone wanting to give it a try and make some contacts on the radio.

Most areas will have clubs on the air starting Noon Saturday through Noon Sunday. Go to ARRLWeb: ARRL Home Page and look up local club listings and see what they are doing for Field Day.
