your older professional drivers don't use the radio like they use to, only time is for a crash, in a hurry, and scales, or need to vent, or just to talk, but they fine some to talk with running the same way as they are to make the day go faster but there on another channel. other then that, there is to much foul talk, once the king of the road, there now known as other names.
I would like to join with the rest of yous on CH.13 & inform all my friends too, why not its not being used,,,, just like all the other channels.

I monitor ch 19 while traveling. Our 4x4 club used ch 13 but I don't have a problem using ch 13 on the road in the MH either if other RV travelers are doing so too.

If you were broke down as you said, you use channel 9. In many areas there are stations (volunteers) who listen and can call help. If you are broke down you can also call 911 if you can get a signal. The police will show up and call you help.

I am a 35 yr on the road truck driver. Just for thought I have found out that anymore most semi drivers are no longer using CB's or if they have one it is off. Most are using cellphones and or ham radio's.
I have all three in my rig but thats just me, usually CB is turned off. To much garbage on CB's and it usually not truckers its just idiots. If you have a amateur radio license I suggest putting a 2 meter rig in your rig, this is what I have in my motorhome, and cellphone. I now believe that a cell phone is just about mandatory nowdays. I also will suggest a headset for your cell phone. If you want to stay alive! Just my 2 cents!!

Your right bigdale. I have a relative who does Long Hauls. He will call me at all hours and spends as much time on the phone as I can give him. If it's not me or any other of his relatives it's other drivers that he has gotten to know over the years. He rarely if ever has his CB on.
Me on the other hand, always keep mine on 19 just in case I might be having a problem and can't see it and hoping that someone would let me know. Also there are the Smokey reports that are few and far between these days, but I am diehard.
One thing that has increased are the flashing of headlights warning of a cops up ahead.

I went to ham radio from CB, the language on the CB got pretty bad at times. You don't have that on ham. On the road I keep it tuned to 2 meter, be surprised how many folks are at there on 2 meters.

This place is close to your location I think.
Citizens Band Radio and GPS
Cobra is a reasonable priced radio. One with the weather station would be useful.

I don't have a CB radio and don't miss not having one. I do monitor 2 meter FM amateur radio at 146.52 Mhz, and have a sign on the back of my fiver with my call sign and the frequency. If I need to know road conditions, the DW will call 511 on the cell phone or log in to the state highway web site. Sirius Traffic Radio is good for metro areas like Houston, Atlanta, and Orlando, which are areas I frequently travel to.

I will be installing the old Cobra in the mh soon, and plan to monitor ch 13 and may even post it on the back so others rv'ers will know the ch.
