Got them on my wife's car and my pickup. I think that's enough. The antenna should be a dead giveaway. Or maybe the G5RV hanging off the flagpole buddy would be a clue.

I have considered it but... A savvy crook might see that and think "Oh, Good high price electronics inside" so as of yet, I have not.

I did have call sign plates on my towed though

Yep savvy crooks...Ferllow Ham has a place on a lake down this way and anothe place in Dallas and spends a couple weeks in one and then the other. House was broken into and on desk set a Pro III and a dual band UHF/VHF mobile. The crooks took the little dual band and never touched the Pro III. Yep real savvy there, probably thought they found them a CB radio there good buddy.

I do agree "Savvy Crooks" is something of an oxymoron.

But Still, Proud as I am of my call... I think it's best not to advertise.

Why would this be any different then having a large array or tower full of antenna's at a stick house? With the exception of other hams, I'd be surprised their are savvy crooks that would know what a call sign means. Now those same "savvy crooks" might figure out what a bunch of antenna's mean. So while your driving down the road showing your call sign there's little chance of someone breaking and entering. However, when your parked or camped and have your antenna's in plain site this might give a "savvy crooks" an idea.

A friend of mine just made me a vinyl sign to put on my trailer with my call and 146.520. I think it will be good to have on the rear while driving down the road. I have more fear of losing stuff while I'm away from home than when its with me. Just carry good ins!

My only thought about giving away the fact you have a radio in the rig is that any would be thief should know that most MH's or trailers are loaded with TV's, DVD's, etc, so the ham radio should be close to the bottom of the food chain in the grand scheme of things. JM 2 cents worth!

I found a online place to order custom license brackets.
I ordered one for the toad with my call and 146.520.
Havent figured where to put a small rig or what kind of antenna in the coach yet.

In over 40 years of mobile operation (a good bit of it in "inner city") with the call on the vehicle, I have never had any problem's, but I have always had several antennas on a vehicle and at least one "large" hf antenna of some sort.
In overhearing conversations among some of the more "QUESTIONABLE" types of people I've been around, I get the same general impression that they are afraid to fool around with my vehicle due to lack of knowledge of what "MAY" be inside.
Maybe I've just been very lucky but I'm not going to complain about it.
I've actually gotten more questions at truck stops from truckers thinking that my "Tar-heal" is some sort of new "super CB antenna".
My theory, "the more the better and the cleaner the install the better" , keep the outside world guessing !

I like insatlling rigs in my Motor Home, I now have 7 antennas up there and lovin it. I don't do a lot of HF from the MH but have several antennas to use when I do. I like my Hustler Mobile antennas alot but latley using that Yaesau thing that has a motor in it to adjust for freq
now if I can only get me 2 KW linear amp in there
so the ants glow in the dark, might get more 5.9's instead of 5.5"

I think I'll put the 146.520 on my toad, great idea. and I have a vinyl cutter to make it, just never thought of it.
I usally have the rig on but people don't usally reconize my call letters in my Rig lisc plate
