I installed a Cobra hand held sound tracter in my coach when we bought it in April and Cannot get out, but can sometime receive on it. I have an idea that the antenna that was pre-installed at the factory is not connected somewhere. Is there a way to test the antenna for signal?

Beg or borrow a spare antenna and hook it up to the radio instead (just run the wire through the window temporarily). Then have a friend listen for you. Sure, there a lots of other ways but they're somewhat more complex and who needs that?

Most CB shops at the truck stops will help you out if you need it. Alot of factory installed setups need adjusted.

This may not be very practical for you, but it's always good to know:

An RF antenna will light a neon bulb when held close to the antenna. If one has such a thing, you could have someone key the mic while you held a neon bulb close to the the antenna. If it lights, it's putting out an RF signal.

BTW...A CB antenna produces enough RF to cause RF burns if one touches a transmitting antenna. So dont touch the antenna when the mic is being keyed.

Also works with conventional fluorescents. Dunno about Compact Fluorescents or LED's.
