CB Radio

Just curious-How many RVers are activly using CB radios?
Last time I even turned mine on was to make reservations at a park that advertised you could use your radio, Don't see that much anymore.

I run mine on the freeways just to hear road reports and smokey locations (not that I speed anywhere but maybe California. Stupid 55 when towing law). Very seldom actually talk to anyone.

I have mine on all the time. Once in a while someone will alert me of a slow down, accident, detour, what have you. I also want a trucker to be able to tell me if they see something wrong with my rig or toad. And once in a while I get a laugh out of the rest of the bs. Although there is not a lot of chatter anymore.

I have 3 of them in the motor home plus a General coverage receiver that has chan 19 programmed in it

I keep one on 19, (main) one on 13 (Secondary, very poor antenna poorly placed but if you are in sight of me I should hear you) and the hand held turned OFF. The general coverage receiver is usually tuned.... Elsewhere.

Keep mine on channel 19 all the time you never know what mighhht be going on. Truckers are always good about letting know if something wrong with the road or your rig.

Mine saved our bacon when we had an engine problem on Highway One in BC. We were just short (west) of the first snow shed and was partly blocking a lane when the motor went dead. I used the CB to get help and phone numbers to call. I usually just use it for inter rig chatting when a group of us travel together.

I just bought a Cobra 18WX ST II. There have been so many times going up a grade, come around a corner and I end up behind a very slow truck. I've noticed that the trucks seem to know in advance a la CB radio and move to the other lane.

Cobra 29 LXLE with NGP Firestik antenna on my to do list. Haven't had a CB radio for 30 years, should be fun to pick up the mic again.

I have one in my RV and Toad and use it all the time. There is not as much chatter as their used to be but it is helpful with road conditions and smokies. I was traveling across Texas and saw these huge dogg houses on flatbeds. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked the next trucker I saw what they were. Now I know, because of my CB.

I have one in my MH and Jeep. In the MH I keep it on ch 19 when traviling alone and use channel 15 when caravaning with friends both in the MH and the Jeep. I also heard that 15 is supposed to be an RV channel, is that correct?

I think the RV channel is 13. In all my years of traveling I have never heard anyone on 13. As a matter of fact there is a lot less chatter on 19 than there used to be. Now you see alot more Semi's pulled over by the cops for speeding. I think it is because there are fewer truckers using the radio.
