Joe, congratulations and welcome back.

KE5QG

Edited: p.s. First CS was WB4FVA acquired in Virginia. Second CS was KA5KJD when stationed in Japan. Had the "Advanced" class license with WB4FA 1 year after getting General Class in 1974. Returned from Japan, settle down in Texas and said what the heck and applied for Advanced class CS and now stuck with KE5QG. '74 was good old days of Morse code. I had a speed key certificate from ComPhibPac at 30 WMP so code was not problem, but I was lacking in theory for Extra Class and didn't want to study anymore.

Great Stories. waiting is harder then most think it is.

I do not remember when I first got my novice call.. a very long time ago..
active on and off since then.. still have 2 meter stuff. and a Heathkit sw receiver I built way back then and it still works.. its in the garage and turns on when the bench light is switched on.

never could get my Extra.. got Advanced... the 20wpm stopped me. it sound turned to MUD.

I have one very valuable QSL card to me.. from the Space Shuttle CQ years ago. 2m and No repeater .

first call KA8IJT , then N8BSJ.
.

I had a novice license back in the 1973 range and as someone earlier said "life got in the way" and I never upgraded and the license expired. Then early this year I got motivated received a technician in late March and the general in June. I RV full time and am limited at this point to VHF/UHF with an Icom ID-51A+. I spend time on local VHF/UHF frequencies/repeaters and a lot of time on D-Star. I stand by on reflector 030C. Is HF in my future or an Extra license? Who knows.
