I'll be retiring in a couple of years and plan on using my Whites metal detector and try some fly fishing. Want to catch and eat fresh trout just outside my RV. Any good spots you don't have to pay a guide for?

Go to Mountain Home, or Cotter, Arkansas and fish the White River below Bull Shoals Dam, and the Norfork River below Norfork Lake, nice fish, mostly nymph and midge fishing, with an occasional sulphur, grasshopper dry thrown in.

I've had many 75 fish days, with 30-40 being the norm. Lots of 14-16" fish. Watch the generation Schedule as it's a tailwater, but with 30-40 miles of river, you can usually move up or down river to stay behind or ahead of the rise in water.

WFS, I see you are in the southeast, but if you ever get a chance, come up to the Pacific Northwest! We've got trout as long as your arm. And some pretty good story-tellers too! Welcome to this site, we have a great time and lots of good info.

Guadalupe River Sattler Texas, Hiawassee, Tellico Plains, Little River, Clinch River all in East Tennessee, White River Arkansas. If you do decide to come to Texas for winter months you will get the urge to saltwater fly fish. Try Rockport Texas.
