Actually, I thought everyone would get a kick out of a fantastic looking Ham "shack". I do use that term very, very, loosely.

I'd have to mortgage everything I own including selling the XYL...which would not work.

WOW - very, very impressive. That is very nicely done. Well designed and very functional. And here I am flipping a coin about a new SWR meter....

Long time since I've seen a functioning Collins R-390. Used a bank of them at a number of military sites in the late 60s - mid 70s.

Great "shack"

Tom,

I am very impressed. You obviously have a love of restoring and preserving the older gear.

I recognized many pieces of gear that I used to own and use.

My favorite mode for over 20 years was 40M CW. In fact, I did not have a microphone in the shack until about my 20th year. Licensed KN5AWO in '58 I think, General K5AWO a few months later.

Somewhere around '80-'81 went with a friend to El Paso, TX so he could take his General ticket. The FCC guy asked me if I was taking the code test. "nope, was waiting for you to get to 20 wpm"

Me, ummm, that is too slow for 20 wpm. He asked me what he just sent, and I told him almost verbatim just from reading the code in my head. He said "passed", so I went home with an Extra ticket... I would have froze up had I thought I was taking a "test"

We ought to set down for an iced tea. I'm near Mesa Drive, and Brown Rd in west Mesa.
