Ok Guy's, here's the deal. I am putting up a tower and want to put up a 2 meter stacked beam with a 2 meter vertical on top and want to include a multi band 10,15.17.20,40 HF antenna close to the bottom of the mast.

My question is: what antenna switch can I use for a remote switch?

What antenna would you recommend for the 2 meter stacked rig?

What antenna would you recomend for a multiband HF antenna?

What spacing would you recommend for the mast?

Thanks for your input

First I would go with Cushcraft antennas all around.

Cushcraft makes very good 2m beams that have 14 elements. It is probably good enough that 2 stacked will not provide much more performance. If you do stack them use their phasing harness.

Cushcraft has a nice 4 element HF beam too.

Spacing is not too much of a worry, but I would keep the 2 mtr beam about 5/8 wavelenght (2m) above the HF.

The tough part is the switch. I am not sure there is a remote switch that will do what I think you want. I had a similar set up until 3 years ago and I ran 3 coax cables into the shack . It was easier and cheaper with no hassels.

Being that you are in OK, that tower better be husky to be holding all that metal in the air. My old set up was on a Wilson telescoping tower that I could remotely lower from 45 feet to 22 feet when I saw bad weather coming and it payed off as I never had any damage.

Your project is exciting, so keep us up to date with your progress.

Don't forget the rotor!! Use one that is rated for your antenna and maybe more .I've used small ones and it seems that every time I wanted to turn the beam the rotor would need some fixing . If you use a tilt over tower the size of the beam will determin high the ladder will be to work on the antennas a telescoping one of course will still be a pain a hazer will make things easy unless it breaks So my Advice ,put a good rotor on and you will not have to worry about antenna problems as much.
I used a stepped pole for a lone time when I was in shape and climbed at work Now I us a lift to go up .
good luck
