IC 2800h and alternator whine

Hi all,

I finally got around to mounting my IC2800h in the M/H. I'm using a through the glass mount (MFJ) and running power direct from the house batteries. Works fine with motor off but gives a nasty steady staticie whine with the motor on. Goes away on RX. Any Ideas? Filter? Location?
Been off the air for awhile, trying to get back up.

Through-glass antenna's are bad ideas. They allow for a handful of problems, as you have noted. Nothing beats hard-wiring. Look around at truck stops/travel centers for a tunable signal filter, or visit a real CB store for same.

It may be Your Migthy Fine Junk antenna?

Is your power directly from the chassis battery or did you pick it up intenally?

You might try running it from the House batteries?
