Looking for help with my Icom IC-207H 2/440 mobile radio, s/n 01011. I've used this radio for several years, and before that it belonged to a friend so I have no idea how old it is. I really like the radio, and especially the "remote" display feature that allows me to have the radio itself buried under the dash while the display & controls are velcroed to the dash in easy reach.

About 2 years ago I noticed half of the display screen was no longer lighted, and about 6 mo ago the second light in the display went out. I can still read the LCD, but not from a distance as before. I haven't got around to tearing into it ...can anyone tell me if the light bulbs in the display head are replaceable, even by soldering?

If you email this guy MTS Ham Radio Repair he will get you an answer. He is an excellent tech if you ever need heavy repair. He fixed my 706MKIIG a lot cheaper than Icom quoted.

Some of the Icoms (others as well) had issues with displays. A good tech should be able to tell you if is repairable.

The guy at the MTS link provided above gave me a quick response indicating that the bulbs are "accessible without too much difficulty." When we hit a point next week where we will remain for a month or so I'll open it up and see what I can find.
