Motorhome radio operating location

I only operate HF from my motorhome, and only when parked. In the past I have always operated the radio up on the dash from the co-pilot's seat. That is fine when the YL doesn't want to watch the front TV. (which is usually when conditions are good in the evening)

I've recently changed radios to a much smaller Yaesu FT-450D which fits nicely in a cabinet under the MBR TV. My only issue would that I would be forced to sit on the end of the bed to operate.

Just curious if anyone else is operating their rig from the MBR, and if that is a comfortable operating position.

I operate my Icom 7300 into an Eagle One 31' vertical mounted to the ladder on the back of the coach. The radio is mounted to the underside of a shelf located over the MBR vanity. This shelf was originally providing a home for the BR TV but now houses our wireless printer. To finally get to the point, YES it is UNCOMFORTABLE to sit on the edge of the bed with no back support. Occasionally I'll take a folding card table chair in and use that. Its cramped, but at least I have back support

I would *not* want to sit on the edge of the bed to play radio.
