I killed this message, the contents were insignificant.

I will have to agree with John there has not been a lot on the forum .But then the HF bands have not been that good either,at least at this QTH.
We are getting ready to head South down highway 35 to Texas for a few months and will monitor 146.52 along the way. I did actually work a few stations last year and hopefully again this year.I guess everybody just listens on 52.

You know, you are right. We just returned from a 2700 mile trip and I monitored .52 all the way. Only time I heard anyone was in Utah while in Arches National Park and they wouldn't talk back, course, they weren't using any call signs either and just talking car to car. Want to bet if they had a license to operate or not. But in the spirit of this post I have to admit I didn't call either, just listened.

The bands really are really sucky. Of course just when I get a new radio...

Oh sunspot, where are you?

Yes, I normally moni .52 when rolling, and have rarely heard anyone else, but every so often if I throw my cal out someone will shout back. Derek and I do like it when we make a major move... We have two vehicles, so we are both stuck driving, and it is nice to have a rather quiet channel for intervehicle communication, and the cell is kinda a pain in the butt, I hate talking on the phone when driving. With the radio I can just listen, and it is much more driver friendly.
