You are bound to the limitations of your stock alternator and the low internal resistance of the lithium. You very much risk the chance of burning up your alternator.



Take a close look at the Victron BMS 12/200 Battery Management System. This is designed for what you are attempting by both limiting alternator output and charging house and chassis batteries safely.

The problem with this video is that modern vehicles have a 2.5-3 to 1 ratio of alternator rpm to engine rpm. It appears they are reading the "engine" rpm and there is a 1:1 ratio to the alternator. If an engine is idling at 700 rpm and had a 3:1 pulley ratio, the alternator is spinning at 2100 rpm, not 700.
