Maybe cuz we prefer to save what water we have left rather than use it up too. And like someone else said water is getting to cost a lot more than gas. At 1.09 for 20 oz, thats what 6.54 a gallon???

Anyone who would pay $6.54 a gallon for water is pretty silly in my opinion. I get my purified water for .15 a gallon from a machine and even put it into empty 20 oz water bottles when those are useful.
And for non-drinking purposes, I get tap water much cheaper than even .15 a gallon.

It's a matter of scale:
The number of gallons of water flowing over Niagara Falls in 5 1/2 hours is equal to the number of gallons of gasoline used in the United States in an entire year. Consider the volume of water in the oceans and compare that volume. If this technology exists and is successful sometime in the future, there would be ample water available to support it.
Also, consider that a byproduct of burning the hydrogen that is separated from water as a fuel is that it combines back with the oxygen and makes water again.
Burning the hydrogen from water is an interesting concept but my hunch is that the technology is still about 25 years into the future before we see it as a common use.

Probably not in our life time, but I beleive the day will come, if the human race lives that long, when even drinking water will become very expensive.

Water equals power which equals water. What a concept.

I had heard awhile back that they were heavily pursuing Hydrogen fuel cells in Great Britain. Did a little looking, and it appears they are now in the phase of building "Gas" stations for these vehicles. Here is a link. Fuel cells

A hydrogen burning car is one thing, but water.
It takes a massive amount of energy to dissociate water.
