We promise to:

1) Drive the posted speed limits. We found we get optimal gas mileage by staying around 60mph.
2) Keep our tires properly inflated.
3) Not overload the rv with unnecessary stuff (we all know we're subject to the "just in case" syndrome).
4) Keep the rv properly maintained with regular scheduled maintenance.
5) Not waste water at the campground, even when we do have fhu's. I'm gonna order one of those Oxygenics showerheads from RVUpgrades to help us keep this promise.
6) Make sure our sanitation supplies are formaldehyde-free & our cleaning supplies are biodegradable.

I figure, this is at least a start. What are others doing to help save our planet?

I'm with you Dave. Been doing most of that already. Am looking to go green now with the toilet additives. No more chemicals.

Along with the bullet items mentioned by Dave & Lori, we also use THIS STUFFin our waste tanks. Have been using it for 3 years with no problems or odor.

We also have 400W of solar and a 400W wind turbine.

We run the generator once a month to exercise it. I consider this routine maintenance and a must do.

Dave I am doing much the same. We have also cut back on how long we are on the road staying longer in locations to use less fuel.

What kind of wind turbine do you have? I've been considering going that route when I get my MH. In particular, I've been looking at the vertical turbines, wondering if its possible to use while in motion. So far folks tell me that would be experimental - so no answer.

We also are trying to follow the guidelines. Have also started using biodegradable poop bags for dog poop!! The problem is, the disposal sites for the most part are lined with plastic garbage bags.

Walter,

I have the AirX 400W 12V wind turbine. I mounted it thru the roof on the rig. I remove it and transport it on the ladder. If you want details PM me and I can send photos.

I don't think a vertical turbine will work for you, only becuase the "egg beater" blades would have to be too tall and large to use it in motion.

Glad to see others doing this! We've lived by these standards since we've been in the RV

390 watts of solar has kept the Generators in the truck all but a few times just to bring things up to power during a few rain storms
