Jimbo - did you wind up putting the panels in parallel or in series?
I can understand placing the panels in series to get higher voltage and thus lower amperage, smaller diameter wire, and power loss. Parallel has advantages as noted in post #2. We just have to be careful how we set up rig to make sure we have 3 or 4 hours of solar when boondocking. Our son has two sets in parallel of three panels each in series. The voltage to controller is around 90V with a maximum (so far) of 1250 W to controller. The amperage is thus 1250/90 = about 14 amps. The controller is an MPPT-45 so I think we are fairly over engineered.
To some the glass is half full and to some is half empty. To an engineer it is 100% over engineered.
