Former Brembo Technical Director Returns for Second Tour of Duty COSTA MESA, Calif.,

Sept. 17, 2007 – Brembo North America (BNA) recently appointed Adrian Smith as General Manager of its North American operations and responsible for its three offices in Costa Mesa, Detroit and Charlotte, N.C. Previously, Smith served as Technical Director of Brembo S.P.A., the world leader in OE and aftermarket brake technology, from 2000-2004 based in Curno, Italy, where he was responsible for a staff of 240 engineers and core engineering activities covering project management, design, prototyping and product development for Brembo's entire product range. In his new position, Smith will be in charge of Brembo North American operations including Aftermarket and High Performance groups based in California, the Original Equipment business unit in Detroit, and Brembo Racing located in Charlotte. Between his two tours with Brembo, Smith served as Vice President and General Manager of Prodrive Automotive Technology's North American business where he was responsible for the Michigan-based Vehicle Engineering business, as well as the California-based Performance Parts and Accessories division. With a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 24 years of management experience, the British-born Smith is uniquely qualified to continue the significant growth that Brembo has achieved in the North American market place. In the past two years alone, Brembo has been acknowledged by the industry several times, including the prestigious Frost & Sullivan "Product Quality Leadership Award"¯ for the superiority of its production of brake discs for the North American marketplace. Brembo has also received awards from Motortec's Galeria de Innovacion (2005), SEMA's New Product Showcase (2005), Popular Mechanics magazine's Editor's Choice Award (2005) and Frost & Sullivan's Product Innovation of the Year Award (2006) for its innovative Easy Check brake disc for the aftermarket industry. Brembo, headquartered in Italy with plants in 12 countries, is a world leader and design innovator of high-performance braking systems. It supplies brake systems to the most prestigious brands of passenger cars and motorcycles worldwide. Brembo has also proven leadership (or dominance) in motorsports with its products winning more than 200 world championships.
