ELKHART, IN "” Damon Motor Coach and Workhorse Custom Chassis are partnering to provide an outstanding motor home to Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) for use in its loan program.

Damon is building its DayBreak 3274 model on a Workhorse W21 platform especially for the RVIA Vehicle Loan Program. RVIA will have use of the motor home for six months beginning in April.

For more than two decades, RVIA has operated its Vehicle Loan Program as a key component of its public relations and governmental affairs initiatives. "This program helps introduce influential media and governmental contacts to RV travel," said Pam Bean, vehicle loan coordinator for RVIA. "These loans not only generate positive exposure for the industry, but also for the participating manufacturers."

In recent years, RVIA has loaned coaches to such publications as USA Today, PBS, U.S. News & World Report, the Washington Post, Field & Stream and National Geographic Traveler.

The program vehicles this year are expected to be:

"¢ Featured in RVIA's annual photo shoot, which produces RV travel and lifestyle photos for the media and RVIA publications.
"¢ Showcased on Capitol Hill during RVIA's Advocacy Day and the American Recreational Coalition's Great Outdoors Week, both held during RVIA's Committee Week.
"¢ Used as a "set" for live television segments, such as RVIA President Richard Coon's interview on NBC's Today Show this past summer.

"This is a great way to get positive exposure for our DayBreak model and at the same time give support to RVIA," said Kevin Finn, vice president of sales and product development for Damon.

Workhorse will have special decals to promote its brand on the motor home. "Our product is not readily visible to the average person, so we have to work that much harder to get our name out in the marketplace. We think partnering with Damon is a good way to promote RVing," said Bill Walmsley, RV marketing manager for Workhorse.

Damon's DayBreak features two slideouts "” one in the living area and the other in the bedroom for the queen bed and the handcrafted solid wood wardrobe. Other amenities include a private neo-angle shower, a 27-inch television and ample pass-through storage.

Damon builds this model on the 21,200-pound W21 chassis from Workhorse. This chassis features a GM Vortec™ 8.1L engine that provides 340 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. torque. That's more than enough power to climb mountains, quickly pass on the interstate and easily merge with traffic. The platform has a 50-degree wheel cut, making it easier to maneuver in parking lots or camp sites. The chassis carries a five year, 100,000-mile warranty.

The Damon-Workhorse partnership is creating the perfect motor home for RVIA to tout the good points of the RV lifestyle.

DriVer, what is a <span class="ev_code_RED">"W-21"</span> chassis? Is this a mis-print or a new series?

Thanks, Glenn

The W-21 has the Allison 6-speed and the 340HP 8.1L Vortec.

Every time I get caught by one of these type surprises....I then remind myself that CUSTOM is their middle name.
I'm certainly learning that it is NOT Workhorse Stagnant Chassis
