Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation Expands Offerings with Powerliner III(tm)

LOUISVILLE, Ky.
- Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) announced today at the National RV Trade Show that the Powerliner III(tm) chassis offerings have expanded, bringing the newest iteration of the company's powerful, reliable and highly maneuverable motorcoach chassis to market.

Built in accordance with EPA '07 emissions standards, the Powerliner III boasts a tag axle rated to 13,000 lbs., up to 15,000 lbs. towing capacity and a drive axle rated to 20,000 lbs. It has a GVWR of 50,000 lbs., with a GCWR of 65,000 lbs. The Powerliner III will feature a heavy-duty upgraded front end for model year 2010 featuring up to 17,000 lbs. of independent front suspension (IFS).

"FCCC consistently strives to develop new technology to meet and exceed our customers' needs," said Jonathan Randall, director of sales and marketing for FCCC. "The Powerliner III continues in the FCCC tradition of providing the best possible solution for motorhome owners interested in performance, reliability, ride and handling. Like other Powerliner models, the chassis was built with the customer in mind."

Featuring a 10.8-liter Cummins(r) ISM engine with 500 hp and 1,550 lb.-ft. torque and an Allison(r) 4000 MH transmission, the Powerliner III is impressive in terms of power and performance. This chassis offers the most horsepower currently available in a rail chassis.

FCCC developed the unique load-proportioning feature on the drive and tag axles, allowing for optimized percentage of weight on both axles when building the motorhome body and loading the coach with belongings.

Similar to other Powerliner models, the chassis features an industry-best wheel cut of 60 degrees, maximizing maneuverability for motorhome owners as they navigate through urban settings, parking lots and campgrounds. The Powerliner III also features Bendix(r) air disc brakes on all three axles as standard equipment, providing improved stopping distance.

"We've outmatched our competitors," Randall said. "The Powerliner III chassis has load proportioning, an industry-best wheel cut and air disc brakes as standard, all features that are unique to FCCC's Powerliner III. We also have the highest gross axle weight rating on the front and tag axles than any other rail chassis on the market."

The Powerliner III also features aluminum rims, tilt/telescopic infinitely adjustable steering column, suspended and adjustable pedals, VIP steering wheel and daytime running lights.

The Powerliner III is currently available for order. Please contact your local RV dealer for more information, or visit freightlinerchassis.com.
