Front Air Disc Brakes Now Standard on Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation Rear-Engine RV Chassis
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Dec. 1, 2009 – To provide RV owners with enhanced safety and improved ride and handling, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) announced today that all FCCC rear-engine motorhome chassis models will offer front air disc brakes as a standard feature.
FCCC combines advanced technology and engineering with premium components and exceptional workmanship to offer the best motorhome chassis on the road today. Bendix® ADB22X™ air disc brakes increase the safety of passengers because they improve stopping distance, while also easily coming to a straight, stable stop without steering correction. The air disc brakes also contribute to a passenger car-like feel, a positive for those operating a large motorhome.
“FCCC again takes the industry leadership position by being the first RV chassis manufacturer to offer air disc brakes to our customers as a standard feature on all of our rear-engine chassis,” said Jonathan Randall, director of sales and marketing for FCCC. “We sought to enhance rider comfort and brake performance, and the Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes provide both of these benefits.”
The Bendix ADB22X air disc brake, available from Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC, is a lightweight air disc brake package that reduces total wheel-end weight.
The ADB22X system offers long brake life; enables a passenger car-like feel; permits straight, stable stops; significantly reduces stopping distances; and nearly eliminates brake fade.
FCCC rear-engine chassis include the entire FCCC XC product lineup, as well as the Powerliner® III.
“Bendix is pleased to work in partnership with FCCC,” said Aaron Schwass, director for the foundation brake group at Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake. “Motorhomes built on FCCC chassis that are equipped with air disc brakes benefit from improved brake balance and the shortest overall stopping distance in the industry.”
